Model For Powerful Feedback and Coaching

When you combine feedback with coaching, you help people perform at their best level and close any gaps in meeting your expectations. There are five simple steps in a powerful feedback and coaching model. Step one, state what you've observed. Step two, wait for or ask for their response. You want to hear what they have to say to get the whole picture. Step three, remind them of the goal and clarify your expectations for their performance. Step four, ask for a specific solution to close the gap. What will they do to meet your expectations? If needed, provide coaching direction to help them know how to improve. Step five, agree together on their commitment for specific actions to take on how you will follow up for accountability. By using this approach, you will ensure that your people continually achieve, grow, and develop into the best that they can become. As a leader, there is nothing more rewarding.
