Ken Blanchard and Patrick Lencioni Highlight a Great Iowa ABI Conference

It's very rare that two prolific speakers like Ken Blanchard and Patrick Lencioni speak at the same event. It's even more uncommon (as it has never happened before) that they share the stage and hold an open dialogue with the audience. But that's what happened just a few weeks ago in Davenport, Iowa. ATW was proud to help sponsor the ABI Annual Conference and extremely thrilled of our role in facilitating the question and answer session with two of the leading business authors of our time. Both leaders discussed what it takes to be a leader in today's business environment, starting with humility. Lencioni focused his keynote presentation on his book, The Three Signs of a Miserable Job. Blanchard shared thoughts from his updated The One Minute Manager book, which helped to highlight the difference in leadership today compared with the leadership practices when the book was first released.

ATW provides training programs developed by both Blanchard and Lencioni. Please call for more information.

New Course! 5 Essential Behaviors of a Cohesive Team

ATW is proud to announce our relationship with Wiley Workplace Learning Solutions and Patrick Lencioni to provide ATW customers a new program aimed at providing teams with resources for success.

The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ program has a simple goal: to facilitate a learning experience that helps professionals and their organizations discover what it takes to build a truly cohesive and effective team. The Five Behaviors profile, which provides both individual and team feedback, is grounded in the model described in The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, the internationally best-selling leadership fable by Patrick Lencioni.

With this program, participants will learn how, as a team, they score on the key components of the model: trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results. Additionally, the program is powered by Everything DiSC®, a model that helps individuals to understand themselves and others better. Using these results, participants will be able to create a better, stronger team.

ATW August Public Session: Situational Leadership® II

Situational Leadership® II (SLII®) is the world's most taught leadership model-because it works! The foundation of SLII lies in teaching leaders to diagnose the needs of an individual or a team and then use the appropriate leadership style to respond to the needs of the person, team, and the situation.

SLII® Concepts introduces you to the theory of SLII in an engaging and informative way. The new training design is fast-paced, content rich, and provides a meaningful overview of SLII concepts for general awareness or as an introduction to SLII ahead of a more extensive learning experience.

Participants learn about the three skills of Situational Leadership (Goal Setting, Diagnosing, and Matching), and reinforce their learning with a video case study and videos on SMART goals and other skills.

Knowing the three skills of Situational Leadership will also help you to:
* Increase the quality and quantity of your conversations with employees
* Develop self-reliance within others and yourself

Included in the program is the Leadership Behavior Analysis (LBAII), which measures your current leadership flexibility and effectiveness. Through the session, you will gain ideas of how to increase both.

Date: Thursday, August 27th
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Training Tip: Make Training Accessible

A recent survey from HR firm Robert Half found that, when asked to rate the importance of a specific benefit in evaluating an employment offer on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being most important), workers ranked in-house training programs at 7.2, ahead of their job title (6.7) and just behind corporate reputation (7.8). In terms of overall job satisfaction, subsidized training and education was rated 6.9.

ATW Training Solutions Station Feature Blog:
The A, B, C's and D's of Trust

We've all heard the saying that "People don't leave companies - they leave people." In fact, research even shows that the primary reason people leave a company is due to lack of trust in their relationship with a manager or supervisor. So, if solid relationships are an essential factor in the ability to retain the best and brightest talent we have, then it makes sense that leaders must have strong, effective skills to build trust in today's workplace.

In a recent study conducted by Watson Wyatt WorkUSA, it was found that only 39% of employees at U.S. companies say they actually trust the senior leaders. While pay and benefits sometimes surface as motivation for leaving an organization, the primary factor affecting turnover is whether or not a manager developed a trusting relationship with the employee.
